Trusts for Estate Planning
Bourse Life does not provide draft trust documentation, as we are not lawyers and do not offer tax or accountancy advice.
However, we have considerable experience and a sound understanding of a range of planning strategies where an offshore, non-income producing single premium life policy may be considered by trustees. These arrangements are often attractive where income and gains tax can be effectively managed, and where UK trust registration, reporting and accounting requirements can be simplified.
Examples include:
- Bare (absolute) trust where a loan is to be considered, whether retained, gifted or waived
- Discretionary trust where, for example in the UK, a gift is to be limited to the inheritance tax nil-rate band
- Discounted gift trust where the right to life bond withdrawals at a rate of 5% for twenty years is retained by the settlor
- Reversionary trust where maturing policy segments revert to the settlor
- Rysaffe planning involving multiple trusts with different settlement dates and no same-day additions
- Pilot trust (for offshore pension death benefits and spousal by-pass purposes)
- Probate trust
- Purpose trust (under Guernsey law)
